Description of the tour

UZBEKISTAN - ARCHAEOLOGICAL 13 days/12 nights

Itinerary: Tashkent – Termez – Langar – Shakhriabz – Samarkand – Bukhara – Khiva – Nukus - Tashkent.


• Day 01 Tashkent


The arrival by flight at Tashkent international airport, the meeting with the local Italian-speaking guide. Transfer to the hotel, breakfast. After breakfast, visit the city: visit the archaeological site of Aktepa, from which you can see the entire panorama of current Tashkent. The hill would be what remained of the guard fortress dating back to the 5th century AD. which protected Tashkent from attacks by nomads from the north from the 5th century to the 8th century. We continue the visit with another historical archaeological monument of Tashkent – Ming Urik (Thousand Apricots) where the remains of a 2200 year old Zoroastrian temple are located.

After lunch, hotel accommodation and visit to the historic center of the old city of Tashkent, the Khast-Imam complex which consisted of the Kaffal Ash-Shoshi mausoleum, the Barakkhan madrassa, the Tilla Shaykh mosque, the library of Koranic books . Visiting the Chorsu traditional market, Tashkent Metro, Independence Square, Alisher Navoi Opera and Ballet Theater building.

• Day 02:

  Tashkent – Termez – Kampir-tepe – Dalverzin-tepe – Khalciayan – Termez


Breakfast in the hotel early in the morning. Transfer to the national airport for the flight to Termez (661km, 2 hours flight). Meeting with the driver at the airport and departure for the archaeological sites of Termez: we start with the remains of the ancient Kampir-tepe fortress which is part of the World Heritage Site and protected by UNESCO. Passing through Giarkurgan (38 km) and the Alexander the Great Bridge you arrive at the archaeological site of Dalverzin-tepe which keeps the treasures and secrets of the Kushian Dynasty. The visit continues with the ruins of the ancient Khalciayan city. During archaeological research in Khalciayan they made a significant number of unique archaeological finds: terracotta sculptures, ceramic dishes, coins, antiquities life of residents.

Return to Termez.

• Day 3: Hermez


Breakfast at the hotel.

The visit to the ancient center of Buddhism – Termez: the Kokildor-ata khanaka, the Kirk-kiz fortress – the summer residence of the Samanid dynasty, the Sultan-Saodat complex, Zurmala – the Buddha stupa, continues with the site Buddhist archaeological Fayaztepa and visit the archaeological museum, the mausoleum of Al-Khakim at-Termesiy.

• Day 4: Теrmez – Langar

  After breakfast at the hotel, departure for Langar (270 km). The arrival in Langar for lunch time. After lunch visit the village, the canyon in the middle of the mountains, the mausoleum of Muhammad Sodiq (15th century).

• Day 5: Langar – Shakhrisabz – Samarkand


After breakfast we continue with the walks in the Hissar mountains. Lunch at the residents' homes. After lunch departure for Shakhrisabz. In Shakhrisabz visit the remains of the palace of Tamerlane Ak-Saray, Hazrati-Imam mosque, Dorus-Siyodat complex, Dorut-Tilovat complex. After the visits, departure for Samarkand via the Karatakhtacha pass (1600 meters above sea level), along the pass stops for photos of the mountainous panorama. Arrival in Samarkand late in the afternoon. Hotel accommodation.

• Day 6: Samarkand


Day entirely dedicated to visiting Samarkand: The Ulughbek observatory, the museum of the archaeological site of Afrosiyab, the Shaxi-Zinda necropolis, the Bibi-Xanim mosque, the traditional market of Siyob.

The visit continues with the mausoleum of Tamerlane, the Registan square (the Ulughbek madrassa, the Tilla-Qori madrassa, the Sherdor madrassa).


• Day 7: Samarkand – Gijduvan - Bukhara


-Breakfast

Departure for Bukhara via Gijduvan. The following visits are planned along the route; stop in Karmana to visit the Sardoba (water reserve) and the remains of an 11th century caravanserai.

Arriving in Ghijduvan and visiting the Ulughbek madrassa and the tomb of the local saint of Abdukholiq Ghijduvaniy, the ceramist's house to study local pottery.

  After lunch we continue to Bukhara. Along the way, stop in Vobkent for the Vobkent minaret built in 1196. Arrival in Bukhara, hotel accommodation. Free time until dinner for a walk in the historic center of the old city.

• Day 8: Bukhara

-Breakfast

Whole day dedicated to visiting Bukhara, the mausoleum of Ismail Samaniy, the mausoleum of Chshmi-Ayub, the Bolo Hauz mosque, the Ark of Bukhara, the Poi Kalon complex which is composed of the Kalon minaret, Kalon mosque, madrassa of Miri-Arab, Said Alimkhan madrassa.

We continue with a visit to the three Toq (markets) of local crafts; Toqi Zargaron, Toqi Telpak Furushon, Toqi Sarrafon. The Ulughbek madrassa, the Abdul-Azizkhan madrassa, Tim of Abdullakhan, the Magoki Attori mosque, the Labi-Hauz complex which was composed of the Nodir Devonbeghi madrassa, the 33m x 29.5m tank, the khanaka by Nodir Devonbeghi. The Kukaldosh madrassa.



• Day 09: Bukhara – Varakhsha – Paykend – Bukhara


-Breakfast

Varakhsha (27km) – the archaeological site located south of the city of Bukhara. One of the three oases located in the delta of the Zarafshon river. Varakhsha appeared in 5th century AD. and lasted until the end of the 8th or the beginning of the 9th century AD. We continue with Paykend – a city that existed from the 3rd century BC until the beginning of the 12th century AD. Currently an archaeological site located near Bukhara, 46 km from the city.

Return to Bukhara around lunch time. After lunch we visit the complex of Bahovaddin Naqshbandiy, founder of the Naqshbandiya Sufi brotherhood, the sacred place for the Islamic world which is located 16 km from the city and the summer residence of the last emirs of Bukhara Sitorai-Mohi-Khossa. The visit ends with the Chor-Minor madrassa (four minarets).

• Day 10: Bukhara – Ellik-Qala - Khiva


- Breakfast

Departure for Khiva (480 km) via Ellikqala province visiting the remains of the ancient Ayaz-Qal'a fortress (IV-III ss BC) and Tuproq-Qal'a fortress (2nd-3rd ss AD).


Lunch along the route in one of the rest-hauz in the middle of the Kizilkum (red sands) desert.


Stop near the Amu-darya River for river views. Arrival in Khiva late in the afternoon. Hotel accommodation.

• Day 11: Khiva


-Breakfast

  Day entirely dedicated to visiting Khiva. Historic center of Khiva Ichan Qal'a, considered an open-air museum city also currently inhabited by its 5 thousand inhabitants. We visit the main entrance Ota Darvosa, the complex of Muhammad Aminkhan consisting of his madrassa and the Kalta minor minaret (short minaret), the Kunya Ark fortress, the madrassa of Muhammad Rakhimkhan II.


The visit to Khiva continues after lunch with a visit to the Juma mosque (Friday), the Tosh Hovli palace, the Allqulikhan complex, the Islam Khodja complex, the Pahlavan Mahmud place of worship.

• Day 12: Khiva – Nukus


-Breakfast

Departure for Nukus – the capital of the Autonomous Republic of Karakalpakistan and visit to the Igor Savitskiy museum which is considered the “Louvre” of Central Asia. Along the way, stop to visit Cilpik-Qala (2nd-4th centuries AD) - the ancient "tower of silence" of Zoroastrian culture.

Mizdahkan (Gyaur Kala Hodzheyli) - archaeological and architectural complex of the IV. BC - 14th century. A.D

Archaeological site of ancient Mizdahkan located on a large area of more than 200 hectares, along major highways on the way to Kunya-Urgench (Turkmenistan) and the northern areas of Karakalpakstan Rep. - Kungrad and Muinak.

The main part is located on three hills, is located on the southwestern outskirts of Hodzheyli. It consists of a fortress Gyaur Kala Shamun Nabi, Mazlumkhan Sulu, Halfa Erejep. During archaeological research, unique ossuaries, coins, various household utensils, glass, highly artistic gold products were found.

• Day 13: Nukus – Tashkent

At 09:00 in the morning transfer to Nukus airport and the flight to Tashkent with departure time at 10:25 and arrival at 12:40.

Lunch in Tashkent, some free time. At 4.00pm transfer to Tashkent International Airport for the return flight via Istanbul at 6.50pm
